SibGAU was founded in 1960 . In the period from 1960 to 2002 the university had the following names: from 1960 to 1989 - a plant-technical college (a branch of the Krasnoyarsk Polytechnic Institute ); from 1989 to 1992 - Krasnoyarsk Institute of Space Technology (KICT); from 1992 to 2002 - Siberian Aerospace Academy (CAA); from 2002 to 2017 - Siberian State Aerospace University named after Academician M.F. Reshetnev (SibGAU); The name of the famous Soviet and Russian designer M.F.Reshetnev was awarded to the university in 1996
