Welcome to my course, "Character Design Class - The Power of the Silhouette." This course is designed to help students become more effective at creating Character Design concepts from their imagination. You will start with the basic silhouette and learn why that is so impactful to the creation process. With a strong definable silhouette our character designs will be more memorable. This also allows for a great creative spark in the imaginative process. You will then learn how to take that silhouette and draw in the inner details for the character concept. Then you will learn how to create depth and dimension to this character by adding values. Finally we will add color to the character design to bring it to life.

In this course, I will be explaining the Character Design process while using Clip Studio Paint. You are welcome to use whichever method you choose. Many of these techniques will translate to various art applications and even traditional methods.

Meet the instructors

Robert Marzullo

Comic Book Artist / Illustrator

I have been a working professional artist for most of my life. I have been published in comics, created 3D animation and characters for television, illustrated storyboards for commercials, and owned and operated my own design firm successfully for over 15 years.

I am also the author of the book "Learn to Draw Action Heroes" by Impact Publishing.

I am currently a professional freelance illustrator and comic artist where I create digital art for my clients. I create sequential art and character concepts.

I now share my knowledge in digital art and computer software through online platforms such as Udemy and have a growing Youtube channel as well. With over 100,000 Youtube subscribers and quickly growing I felt I should create some more in depth content for students wanting to take their skills to the next level.

My goal is to help aspiring artists realize their potential and break their mental barriers that hold them back from creating the artwork of their dreams. We can all do it with the right instruction and work ethic. That is what I am here to teach my students.
