Course General Description

Department of Drawing, Watercolor Painting, and Sculpture was founded in 1952. The Department teaches such artistic disciplines as Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture. Methodically, these disciplines are related to Architectural Composition, Architectural Graphics, and Principles of Architectural Design. They provide artistic and compositional training at the early stages of architectural education. The Department conducts purposeful and systematic training in the basics of arts necessary for future architects. The training is focused on geometric shapes and spatial formations. Students learn the basic principles of linear structural modeling and develop the ability to represent three-dimensional objects on a plane. These skills contribute to developing competences in composition, light-and-shade decisions, hatching techniques, spatial thinking, and laws of perspective. Another important aspect in architectural education is the human. Constructive basics of human figure are considered to be a priority direction, because everything an architect creates is for meant for the society, the human, his life and recreation. Computers in educational process are only used for sketching creative assignment projects, such as architectural insertion and round sculpture in the specified environment. The ultimate objective of teaching Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture is the development of the skills necessary to depict architectural forms and spaces from life and imagination. Artistic disciplines promote the sense of beauty, aesthetic taste, and the ability to create highly artistic works of architecture.
