Course General Description
The Department of Theory and History of Architecture works with students interested in research topics connected with restoration and reuse of historical and architectural heritage and assists them with preparing their diploma projects. The Department is also responsible for summer introductory and exploratory internships, preparatory courses for those who plan to enter the Architectural Faculty, and for training students in the speciality Restoration of Architectural Monuments. The Department focuses on development of students’ professional expertise on the basis of profound study of local and international achievements in the field of architecture. Since its foundation in 1969, the Department has combined two directions of scientific and pedagogical activities comprising theoretical courses and hands-on workshops. This approach has proved to be quite fruitful, as the professors manage to avoid theorizing and provide in-depth evaluation of architectural masterpieces supported by their professional expertise. Moreover, this approach enriches design practice with historical background and tradition. The training features the discussion of historical and architectural problems, deep analysis of genesis and development of architecture, the study of Belarusian architecture and issues pertaining to preservation and reuse of architectural heritage.Tuition Fees
