Course General Description

Urban planning has a great influence on the development of the society. It is the largest sector of the real economy that concentrates such enormous material resources as buildings and structures, historical and cultural property and the corresponding transport and engineering infrastructure, and information systems of land plots. All of these factors contribute to the development of the so-called investment activity field. Social and economic transformations largely specify the urban planning processes. However, the material and spatial environment of settlements has an impact on the processes of economic and social development as well. Knowledge in the field of urban planning forms the world-view of an architect. Therefore, urban disciplines have been taught in the Belarusian school of architecture since it was established. In February 1969, the Department was established as an independent structural subdivision. Since 1995, the Department is led by Heorhi A. Pataeu, Professor Doctor of Architecture.
