Course General Description
The course offers a thorough grounding in the major branches of Civil Engineering with a strong emphasis on the aspects most relevant to the practice of Structural Engineering and its interface with Architectural Design. The aim is to produce high quality structural engineers who have an understanding of architecture and an appreciation of the role of architects in the design process, through working with practising engineers and architects. An unrivalled range of specialist options is available in Year 5 and students complete a professional design project. All Structural Engineering courses are supported by the Civil Engineering Industry Advisory Committee, which includes representatives from major multi-national employers offering advice, guidance and work placement opportunities.Tuition Fees

School General Description
Heriot-Watt University is the eighth oldest higher education institution in the UK. The university has five campuses located in Edinburgh, the Scottish Borders, Dubai, Malaysia and Orkney. The Dubai campus was the first university campus from a UK university to be set up in Dubai International Academic City and has since expanded to take double the number of students. Students are offered inter-campus transfers if they wish to study abroad for a period of time as well as transfers through the Erasmus programme. The university is divided into six schools including: energy, geoscience, infrastructure and society; engineering and physical sciences; social sciences; mathematical and computer sciences and textiles and design. Over 50 student societies exist at the university and a number of events are organised by the Students Association including an annual charity beer festival.
