Course General Description

The general aim of the programme is to train competent professionals for the fashion business in textile, apparel, retailing, design and related organisations. These professionals will play an active role in the development of the fashion and textiles industry locally and internationally. In addition to their professional competencies, the programme cultivates students’ other essential competencies for today’s society. They will possess abilities such as teamwork and leadership, entrepreneurship, healthy lifestyle and lifelong learning; they will become creative problem solvers with skills in critical and creative thinking; they will gain effective communication and interpersonal skills, and high proficiency in biliteracy and trilingualism; and they will become educated global citizens, demonstrate social and national responsibility, be interested in local and international affairs, exhibit cultural appreciation and a global outlook.

School General Description

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is a public research university located in Hung Hom, Hong Kong. The history of PolyU can be traced back to 1937. It became a fully accredited university in 1994 and is one of the government-funded degree-granting tertiary institutions. PolyU consists of 8 facilities and schools, offering programmes covering applied science, business, construction, environment, engineering, social science, health, humanities, design, hotel and tourism management. The university offers 220 postgraduate, undergraduate and sub-degree programmes for more than 32,000 students every year. It is the largest UGC-funded tertiary institution in terms of number of students.
