Course General Description

LCAD’s multidisciplinary BFA program in Extended Reality Design (XRD) includes the immersive technologies of both virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). As a student of LCAD’s XRD program, you will develop the skills necessary to apply AR/VR technologies in a myriad of different entertainment and enterprise solutions across multiple industries. Leading edge software and hardware, theoretical and critical studies, and purposeful play will be used in project-based learning to advance your XRD skill sets. The XRD program is aligned with industry and will allow you the possibility to work on real life projects with creative corporate partners such as BMW Designworks, Disney Interactive, Oculus, Sony Music, Sony Pictures, and others.

Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD) is a private college in Laguna Beach, California. With an enrollment of more than 700 students, the college offers Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in 11 majors and three Master of Fine Arts degree programs as well as a post-baccalaureate certificate program in Drawing and Painting. Laguna College of Art and Design's campus sprawls across several scenic acres from the Big Bend area of Laguna Coast Wilderness Park to downtown Laguna Beach. The college's historic Main Campus is situated in Laguna Canyon, on 4 acres (16,000 m2). Across the street are the Suzanne Chonette Senior Studios and LCAD's Administration Building. The college also has a Big Bend campus, a South Campus, student housing, and LCAD Gallery. LCAD maintains the Dennis and Leslie Power Library with access to a multi-media collection including over 20,000 volumes.
