Course General Description
This is an exciting and dynamic programme with national and international printmaking partners. We teach etching, woodcutting, smart plate and stone lithography, silkscreen and collography. These core elements are supported by drawing, digital media, photography and professional practice. Students can also engage with casting, molding and 3D building workshops as we see printmaking being central to these areas. Class contact hours are 23 hours per week. We are committed to deliver a high level of expertise through a range of exhibitions, events and collaborations that are undertaken annually by both students and staff. Our graduates work as independent printmakers, printmaking studio directors, printmaking technicians, interdisciplinary artists, art educationalists, teachers, researchers, curators and graphic artists. Eoin Barry continued to postgraduate level in LSAD and changed his studio based printmaking practice into a form of socially engaged practice based on workshops and collaboration with different publics. As well as teaching Eoin is an educational co-ordinator for the Limerick urban festival Make A Move. His ‘061’ street art project was commissioned by Limerick City Council and has appropriated over 254m of Limerick City. Niamh Fahey’s fine art journey began with a Limerick Printmakers bursary, a residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre Galway, an internship with the Graphic Studio in Dublin and a residency in Tartu Estonia. After continuing with a multi-disciplinary printmaking Masters in Bristol she began to develop a business from her practice and now realises unique art based projects that involve education. On graduating Declan Shalvey pursued his intrest of graphic illustration and story telling developing a series of studio press comics that came to the attention of Marvel publishing. His contribtions to Marvel's graphic titles alongside his own has seen him become one of the most impressive and prolific artists of his generation.Tuition Fees
