Course General Description

The Department of Urban Planning and Design was founded in Lviv Polytechnic in 1913 in connection with the rapid growth of Lviv and the lack of qualified specialists. Our department forms the architectural environment of cities and towns of Ukraine, and most of all - Lviv. We create a friendly environment for you, your relatives and friends. Urban development embraces all areas of the formation of the environment. Man is looking for comfort and amenities - from well-designed highways and residential environment to public transport stops, parks and squares. There are many areas of urban development activities that make the city and the environment a comfortable, humble place for each person.

School General Description

Founded in 1816, Lviv Polytechnic National University is Ukraine’s oldest technical university and, with a student population of around 30,000, is also among the country’s largest polytechnic institutions. The university became a centre of scientific and technological research during the nineteenth century. Later, during the interbellum period, Lviv Polytechnic National University was one of central Europe’s most well-known technical educational institutions alongside The Warsaw University of Technology. In 1936, the university was awarded with Order Polonia Restituta by President Ignacy Mościcki for outstanding achievements in the field of education. Today the university is comprised of 114 departments divided between 16 academic institutes, each of which is autonomous. The university offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral Degree programs, and enrollment requires prospective students to pass an entrance exam before being accepted.
