School General Description

Founded in 1957, Ming Chuan University was initially named Ming Chuan Women’s Business College. It was upgraded as Ming Chuan College in 1990. In 1997, the institution futher upgraded into Ming Chuan University and established schools, including the School of Design. In 2010, Ming Chuan University attained accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education(MSCHE), to become the first university in Asia to be accredited in the U.S. education system. The five departments in the School of Design include Commercial Design, Product Design, Architecture, Digital Media Design, and Urban Planning and Disaster Management. The Department of Commercial Design was established in 1966, the first design department of its kind in Taiwan.
