Course General Description

The Information Design Program aims to create competent design professionals who are adept in varied domains of Information Design, User Interface Design and User Experience Design. The program intends to equip them with the know-how of transforming complex information and data into clarified user experiences on different digital platforms that lead to effective knowledge and insight generation. The M.Des program in Information Design spans a 2.5 years duration of 5 semesters. The students begin with the fundamentals of Design and navigate through multidisciplinary research and processes from the domains of Design, Business, Social Sciences. The students learn the tools of imaging technology, information processing and catch up with relevant programming software. The students are exposed to courses in UI-UX design, visual design, information graphics, interactive information visualization, thematic cartography and geo visualization making them well versed with the finer nuances of building pertinent and innovative, interactive experiences for information communication.

The National Institute of Design (NID) is a design school in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar India. The institute functions as an autonomous body under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. NID is recognised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research under Ministry of Science and Technology, government of India, as a scientific and industrial design research organisation.
