Course General Description

The MSc ISD is a one-year post-professional degree programme for individuals with an interest in the sustainable development of the built environment. The programme’s past and current students include architects, engineers, landscape architects, urban planners, project managers and educators. Singapore is on the forefront of environmental policy and action in Asia. The MSc ISD programme takes full advantage of this: its curriculum incorporates visits to completed projects and guest lectures by policy-makers and consultants, bringing to life the Singapore model. The MSc ISD programme is taught by its highly qualified faculty who bring crossdisciplinary viewpoints and cutting edge research. In-house teaching is augmented with Master Classes by internationally renowned scholars and practitioners who are brought in each semester. Students also have many informal learning opportunities outside the programme. Each semester, SDE hosts many local and international guest lectures, offering important and emerging viewpoints.

School General Description

The National University of Singapore (NUS) is the first autonomous research university in Singapore. NUS is a comprehensive research university, offering a wide range of disciplines, including the sciences, medicine and dentistry, design and environment, law, arts and social sciences, engineering, business, computing and music at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Founded in 1905 as the Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States Government Medical School, NUS is the oldest higher education institution in Singapore. NUS's main campus is located in the southwestern part of Singapore, adjacent to Kent Ridge, accommodating an area of 150 ha (0.58 sq mi). The Duke-NUS Medical School, which is a postgraduate medical school in collaboration with Duke University, is located at the Outram campus. Its Bukit Timah campus houses the Faculty of Law and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. The Yale-NUS College, which is a liberal arts college created in collaboration with Yale University, is located at University Town.
