Course General Description

In this course through a combination of lectures and design, students are intrigued to the fundamental elements and principals of design and how they apply to the theatre & screen experience of scenery and lighting design. An understanding of design elements, the principles of composition, and the effects of colour an texture in scenic design. Students explore style, line, shape, form , mass, space, value, colour, texture, proportion, scale, measure, position, balance and other fundamental design elements and principles such as unity, harmony, contrast, variety, emphasis and rhythm.
