Course General Description

Painting as a discipline has been innovating concepts and forms of expression in the modern times and in the theory of modern art. The interaction with the latest technologies and means of expression place it in a very important position in the visual arts, where color, line, perspective and plasticity are common foundations to visuality. Based on these principles, painters graduated from the School of Fine Arts of PUCP represent a vision of the world and its sociocultural context supported on an individual language which has had a comprehensive and interdisciplinary academic training acquired in the School. You will start your studies with academic subjects regarding general training, in which you will develop knowledge of different areas. During the first four semesters of the Program, you will study thoroughly the elements of the visual syntax and continue with the search for your own language and proposal. The last four academic subjects of perfectioning practice under tutorship and workshop of the final project will lead you to search, investigate, define and grow in your artistic career.

School General Description

Founded in 1917 by Catholic priest Father Jorge Dintilhac SS.CC as Peru's first non-profit private institution of higher learning, the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú or PUCP) is a private university in Lima, Peru. Students can study courses in architecture and urbanism, arts, performing arts, science, engineering, communications, accounting, social sciences and management. It is home to 19,000 full-time undergraduate students, 5,600 graduate students and over 500 international students. The main campus is located in the Lima district of San Miguel, with the newly built Mac Gregor complex. PUCP is dedicated to promoting and developing new research - it has 17 institutes and research centres, with notable mention for the Structures Laboratory and the Centre of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (CETAM).
