Course General Description

This degree programme aims to develop each student’s knowledge of and commitment to the skills necessary to work as contemporary artists in a rapidly changing global culture. The program is a vehicle for the exploration of technique, critique, theory, and practice through rigorous academic and studio-based coursework, closely engaged faculty, and expansive opportunities for collaboration across both the school and the university’s spectrum of research areas.

School General Description

Shanghai Art & Design Academy is the only independently established vocational college of art and design in Shanghai. The academy comprises Shanghai Arts & Crafts School (founded in 1960) and the original Shanghai Second Light Industry Vocational College (founded in 1980). After more than 50 years of development and accumulation of experience, SADA has gained strength of running a comprehensive school. In 2013, the academy was awarded the title of National Advanced Unit in Vocational Education. In 2016, the college successfully passed the education plan (post-demonstration construction). In 2017 SADA was among the top 50 universities in China with an international potential in the world.
