Course General Description
Since its invention over 125 years ago, film has emerged as a vibrant and captivating art form. As new technologies have made it possible to make and access films quite easily, the desire to use moving images and sound to express an idea has grown even stronger. As technology extends possibilities, it also creates a new universe of questions. A film may tell a story, create an experience, construct an argument and/or pose social, political and intellectual challenges. It is this understanding that is at the core of our engagement with film. At Srishti we explore the aesthetics and meanings of images and sounds towards building an informed practice. Students are encouraged to work closely with the tools of the medium to explore their particular interests and feel confident about expressing their voice. We underline the value of rigour and conscious engagement with both the form and content of film.Disciplines
