Course General Description

The longstanding cooperation between the Direction of Art History and Theory and the Giorgi Chubinashvili Institute of Georgian Art History has laid a foundation for the development of this field. The tradition of close collaboration has been further enhanced under the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts and the Institute (presently the Giorgi Chubinashvili National Research Centre for History of Georgian Art and Monument Protection). The Faculty prepares researchers of Georgian art, many of whom have received recognition in international scholarly circles.

School General Description

The mission of the TSAA is to contribute to the spread of universal values and promote artistic/creative and research activities in the fields of fine arts, design, media arts, architecture, restoration/conservation and art history and theory. The TSAA is guided by values that are based on the principles of academic freedom and envisage the preservation and development of national cultural traditions with a view to promoting public welfare and finding a respectful place on the international scene. Currently, five faculties operate at the academy, those of Visual Art; Architecture; Restoration, Art History and Theory; Design; Media Art. The Academy aims to contribute to the development of students' identity and interests and support research-based practices by drawing on traditional as well as modern research.
