Course General Description

The Chair of Furniture Design was set up in 1961, which prepared up to 300 furniture designers. In 2007, the Chair was transformed into the Direction of Woodcraft and Furniture Design to cover furniture layout for different types of interiors and woodwork design including installations and woodworking techniques such as wood carving, turning, marquetry, intarsia, types of veneering, modern technologies, etc. Rasterisation and 3D rendering is applied in woodwork and furniture modeling. The Direction aims to educate highly qualified designers, to analyse the stages of the development of the profession and to become a full-fledged member of the European academic, research and creative area.

School General Description

The mission of the TSAA is to contribute to the spread of universal values and promote artistic/creative and research activities in the fields of fine arts, design, media arts, architecture, restoration/conservation and art history and theory. The TSAA is guided by values that are based on the principles of academic freedom and envisage the preservation and development of national cultural traditions with a view to promoting public welfare and finding a respectful place on the international scene. Currently, five faculties operate at the academy, those of Visual Art; Architecture; Restoration, Art History and Theory; Design; Media Art. The Academy aims to contribute to the development of students' identity and interests and support research-based practices by drawing on traditional as well as modern research.
