Course General Description
The Associate Degree in Applied Design has been developed exclusively in partnership with Foundry to give students a unique experience within creative industry education, right here in Tasmania. Working to industry-standard briefs, students assume the role of paraprofessionals from day one, studying in studio environments and learning from industry experts, both local and national. Through application of the four core areas of theory, practice, application and context, students quickly gain abilities to sort through real world problems with a design mindset, enabling them to approach any problem, big or small, with a clear process and desired outcome. Throughout the program, subjects are matched with key skill workshops that give students hands-on experience with the latest industry practices and software.Tuition Fees

School General Description
The University of Tasmania was founded 125 years ago, making it Australia’s fourth oldest university. UTAS has strong links with universities, research institutes and industry across the globe. In 2012, UTAS research was ranked well above world-standard (Excellence in Research for Australia) in the following research fields: clinical sciences; analytical chemistry; geology; oceanography; ecology; evolutionary biology; plant biology; forestry sciences; agriculture; and land and farm management. This disciplinary excellence is representative of a strong research culture across all UTAS faculties, schools and institutes. With campuses located in Hobart, Launceston, Cradle Coast, Sydney and offshore, UTAS offers a vibrant and international experience, with students and staff enjoying a strongly supported academic environment, outstanding campus facilities and social and cultural activities. While maintaining a strong and distinctive Tasmanian identity as the sole university in the state, UTAS programmes and research are international in scope, vision and standards. Research is integral to UTAS’ identity and sense of purpose, and it is this strength combined with a rich heritage that guarantees the greatest achievements are still to come.School Contacts
