Course General Description
BA study programme of Applied ceramics is to educate artists - ceramicists by giving them theoretical and practical knowledge in areas of ceramic design and conceptual - exhibition ceramics. The programme is to foster skills of creating ceramic design (vessels, ceramics in interior and exterior) and artistic ceramics (sculptural plastics, installations); teach ceramic formation and decoration techniques; encourage personal / experimental search for techniques and decor. Graduates are eligible to the second cycle of studies. Graduates will be able to enter programmes of the second cycle of studies of art field, also continue studies in study programmes of art history and theory, cultural management and cultural policy, contemporary art practice and dissemination, etc., which can be entered by graduates of the first cycle of university studies of any field. They also have an opportunity to acquire art teacher's pedagogical qualification. After the studies graduates will be able to apply specific practical skills in ceramics enterprises and implement individual artistic ideas in areas of functional ceramics, sculptural plastics and installation, will be ready to participate in contemporary art exhibitions, contests, symposiums, will be able to develop business of individual design. Having acquired pedagogical qualification, graduates will be able to work as art teachers. Distinguishing features of the study programme: distinctive feature of Applied ceramics programme in Lithuanian and international context - using porcelain and stone masses (high-temperature) in implementing works of art.Tuition Fees

School General Description
Vilnius Academy of Arts is the largest and oldest art university in the Baltic States, established in 1793 as an Architecture department at the Chief school of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in Vilnius. At the end of the 19th century it was closed together with Vilnius University by the tsarist government, and then reopened in 1919. After the World War II Academy was merged with Kaunas Art Institute and since then was called The State Art Institute of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Lithuania. In 1990 the Academy regained its name of Vilnius Academy of Arts. Since 1990, almost 100 alumni of the Academy were awarded National Art Awards. Today Academy has over 1,800 students in four cities – Vilnius, Kaunas and Telšiai. Each faculty has its own unique study programmes, which offer Lithuanian students a possibility to find a specific art specialisation in different cities. Vilnius faculty has a wide collection of most popular art study programmes varying from Painting to Culture Management and Culture Politics. Kaunas faculty offers Glass Art study programme that is unique throughout the Baltic region.School Contacts
