Course General Description
Design program focuses on creating products for the material environment that surrounds us every day. Students are encouraged to think creatively and to develop a conceptual approach to their work, where contemporary and future product ideas come to life. The key words for good design are aesthetics, adaptability, durability, social relevance, comfort and attractiveness. It doesn’t matter what themes or objects are selected - lamps, furniture, advertising equipment, household appliances, mobile products (e.g. bicycle, car), interiors or small architectural objects – designers always look for opportunities to improve the environment people live in. Next to designing lectures students are introduced to the most important graphic design and media design conceptions, learning to put them to practice and adapt them later in different works of design. Students learn to present their works using visual communication tools; also they acquire knowledge of management and marketing. Cooperation with Lithuanian manufacturing companies gives the opportunity to let our students see how their creative ideas can be turned into real design objects. Students have many opportunities to participate in international design exhibitions, contests and win prizes („Salone Sattelite Worldwide (Moscow), „Made in Toscano (Florence), furniture exhibition „Litexpo (Vilnius) etc).Tuition Fees

Vilnius Academy of Arts is the largest and oldest art university in the Baltic States, established in 1793 as an Architecture department at the Chief school of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in Vilnius. At the end of the 19th century it was closed together with Vilnius University by the tsarist government, and then reopened in 1919. After the World War II Academy was merged with Kaunas Art Institute and since then was called The State Art Institute of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Lithuania. In 1990 the Academy regained its name of Vilnius Academy of Arts. Since 1990, almost 100 alumni of the Academy were awarded National Art Awards. Today Academy has over 1,800 students in four cities – Vilnius, Kaunas and Telšiai. Each faculty has its own unique study programmes, which offer Lithuanian students a possibility to find a specific art specialisation in different cities.
