Course General Description
This is the only study programme of metal art in Lithuania which prepares professionals of metal art who have competencies to create functional and conceptual jewellery, medals, small size sculpture and blacksmith forms, and architectural metal plastics. The aims of this study programme are to develop a personality of a wide profile, to form artistic thinking, to teach skills of a unique and interesting speciality, which enables to be active in professional art creation. The students acquire competencies of general higher education, artistic expression, and practice of digital technologies. Bachelors of the study programme acquire knowledge of the world art heritage and processes of art and culture. The main part of studies consists of professional activities: introduction to materials and technologies, jewellery, blacksmithing, metal plastics, which covers creative designing and practical work. During studies there take place experimental workshops, public presentations and exhibitions. Those who are willing to study the programme of metal art are expected to have creative abilities, motivated objectives, knowledge of basic drawing, painting, and composition; to know and to use the main means of artistic expression; to have knowledge of art history, design history; to have understanding about metal art and jewellery. Graduates can work individually in the fields of professional jewellery, artistic blacksmithing, small size sculpture, medal art; they can work as specialists for the companies of similar profile or run their own companies; they can work in private and state cultural institutions; to initiate and implement art projects, to continue further MA studies.Tuition Fees

School General Description
Vilnius Academy of Arts is the largest and oldest art university in the Baltic States, established in 1793 as an Architecture department at the Chief school of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in Vilnius. At the end of the 19th century it was closed together with Vilnius University by the tsarist government, and then reopened in 1919. After the World War II Academy was merged with Kaunas Art Institute and since then was called The State Art Institute of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Lithuania. In 1990 the Academy regained its name of Vilnius Academy of Arts. Since 1990, almost 100 alumni of the Academy were awarded National Art Awards. Today Academy has over 1,800 students in four cities – Vilnius, Kaunas and Telšiai. Each faculty has its own unique study programmes, which offer Lithuanian students a possibility to find a specific art specialisation in different cities. Vilnius faculty has a wide collection of most popular art study programmes varying from Painting to Culture Management and Culture Politics. Kaunas faculty offers Glass Art study programme that is unique throughout the Baltic region.School Contacts
