Course General Description
BA programme of Monumental art provides qualified professional preparation, humanitarian education, to foster independently thinking, creative artists who understand their and society's needs, are able to blend into cultural and intellectual life. The programme of monumental art comprises understanding the relation between architectural environment and a creation (creation of stained glass, spatial composition or another glass object) and its analysis. Students are acquainted with main issues of heritage protection of monumental art; ability to work in a team (with architects, interior designers, customers) is raised. Fresco - mosaic is not only long perceived as a genre of mural painting (al fresco), but also comprises a much wider cultural context and nowadays is understood as art of public spaces and environment. Scenography programme is to provide basic knowledge of contemporary theatre development and trends, foster abilities to analyse creations, understand main possibilities of their interpretation and apply them in individual creative activities, also in theatres under the guidance of a stage director. Having completed BA studies, artists monumentalists are able to do creative and practical work individually or under the guidance of experienced artists, architects. Graduates of monumental art work by employing modern and classical techniques in non-traditional or heritage architectural spaces; graduates of scenography - in various Lithuanian and European theatres, as TV artists scenographers, costume artists, etc. Stained Glass specialised course encompasses the major profile stained glass makers’ development disciplines that promote creative thinking and prepare specialists able to solve independently the problems arising at all stained glass creation stages.Tuition Fees

School General Description
Vilnius Academy of Arts is the largest and oldest art university in the Baltic States, established in 1793 as an Architecture department at the Chief school of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in Vilnius. At the end of the 19th century it was closed together with Vilnius University by the tsarist government, and then reopened in 1919. After the World War II Academy was merged with Kaunas Art Institute and since then was called The State Art Institute of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Lithuania. In 1990 the Academy regained its name of Vilnius Academy of Arts. Since 1990, almost 100 alumni of the Academy were awarded National Art Awards. Today Academy has over 1,800 students in four cities – Vilnius, Kaunas and Telšiai. Each faculty has its own unique study programmes, which offer Lithuanian students a possibility to find a specific art specialisation in different cities. Vilnius faculty has a wide collection of most popular art study programmes varying from Painting to Culture Management and Culture Politics.
